The left have decided to attack Magatte because she speaks truth and pours hot ash over the heads of the imperialists through her words and actions. They dislike Jordan Peterson so her interview with him that has gone viral many times over is essentially an exposé on what is truly going on in Africa. We are here to support her she is not alone. The revolution has begun.

I have come to realise that some folks prefer to see Africa as a charity case and it annoys me no end. We are no charity case - we have able-bodied young people on the continent, dying to work and be entrepreneurs to help their families. Don't these critics realise that there is dignity in work? Africans don't want to keep taking money from the west in the form of NGOs, charities etc. We are here to do business and be treated as equals. Sick and tired of these paternalistic folks!

Well done! Powerful and direct. Exactly how to push back. I'll add typical Western colonialist mentality to the list as well.

Well said, Magatte Wade. And I might add that though the publication might call itself New Republic, it is not.

Although the climate debate is extremely important, the blindness of activists are really a stone in the way of prosperity. Easy for activists (mainly heirs, rich people) to jeopardize the development of poor countries since they don't have to live with it and everything is just numbers to them. It's very good to see you standing up. I still think that climate change needs to be tackled, and moderation is key for us to agree on a possible way forward, but we cannot make poor countries pay for it on their own. All the best.

Be aware that climate change is a ruse a Trojan Horse a giant LIE perpetrated by westerners to help them siphon funds and increase taxes so that "we the collective" can combat an invisible enemy. Something that they have been combatting since the 1970s against lead factories and smelters, stopping the fracking of oil and not issuing new exploration permits all in the name of reducing green house gases. There are arguments to show this worked but forced the price of lead upward; inflation is a tax on the people.

If the climate is changing Africans did not cause it change. We had no means of doing so they need to look at the east and west before looking at us in the centre of the world. Climate change is a lie do not fall for it. Want proof? Google Obama beachfront house Hawaï and look at the look on his face he is the number one climate change champion. Why buy and develop beachfront land if the seas are rising?

Thank you all for your comments and such respectful debate.

For me, the bottom line is that we Africans are being forced to pay the consequences of a climate scenario that’s almost impossible to achieve, while other nations have reaped (and continue to reap) the massive economic and social benefits of fossil fuels.

Yes, Africa is not liable. Yes, the regulation has not been effective. Yes, prices went up because of regulation based on climate change mitigation. Yes, inflation is tax on people. All you said on the argument side is fact and correct, but not related at all to climate change. The fact that governments use the climate change to maintain monopoly does not prove that climate change doesn't exist. Let's not mix the concepts. Yes, Europe and US must by themselves take the bigger stake on reducing emission, and poor countries in Africa and Latin America can improve emissions (but with responsibility), however climate change is not a lie and we must be aware of the risks. Science is science. Facts are facts. The fact that free trade is essential for prosperity is not questionable. Climate change should not be questionable too. If we want the world to hear us, we must stick ourselves to facts. The socialists are ignoring basic economics. What is the purpose for liberals/libertarians to ignore environmental science?

Their purpose is to keep economies open feed people and let free market capitalism do it's thing. The climate change agenda is against every single one of these truths. The best example is how these climate change fanatics will push everyone via tax incentives to buy electric vehicles powered by lithium yet happily ignore that lithium mining is extremely bad for the environment even worse than fracking for oil. I agree that environmental concerns are of importance we do not want to pollute the rivers for our children. The scientific research is out there and that's the basis of environmental protection but don't mix it with climate change they are two different things.

All the climate change pushers do commission reports that they fund so that their agenda can get a scientist's stamp of approval. I'm happy to do the same thing it's quite simple.

My advice to Africa is Do NOT fall for the climate change mob the world goes through seasons of change and if climate change was a thing why do G8 fly to remote parts of the world in private jets? Why not fly commercial and "lower the carbon footprint"? I can give you thousands of examples as to why climate change is a big con the next best is how they created a new currency in the form of Carbon Credits there are westerners getting filthy rich off these carbon credits how about Africans or are we excluded from this system too? Do not believe the majority of what the west has to say take it with a pinch of salt and always ask what is the hidden agenda here?

I can only repeat that the hypocrisy of western leaders and the use of climate change as excuse to do bad politics and keep their interests is not a proof that climate change does not exist. I'm not mixing river pollution with climate change. Yes, these are separate things; both important. I'm really talking about climate change. Deny facts will not help us to be free. In fact, the more we deny the truth, the poorer and trapped we get. If you really care for liberty, if you really care for freedom, I'm sure you'll stop mixing the unethical behavior of the western leaders with the climate change debate. Climate change is a thing; it exists. The political leaders should not be hypocrites; they should not use it to boost their patrimony; they should not use it to increase protectionism; they should not use it to favor European economy; but climate change is still a fact. A last comment to make it clear: socialists blame capitalism and free market when an investor is exploring workers... this is nonsense. The exploitation of workers is not a characteristic of capitalism, but human race itself (as in antient Egypt, when capitalism wasn't even a thing). Please don go down the same road. The use of the concept of climate change to a personal gain does not mean that climate change does not exist. Hope it's clear. All the best.

Love your mother. The way I see it, that’s the whole of it. If you will permit be to float the idea that it’s not a debate, although it has been called that. Its a way of being, doing and having in natural flow that African people are well in touch with. The earth, our mother does not wish to see any of her children starve or be locked in abusive relationship, and she has blessed Africa richly. That’s why the pundits of Northern hemisphere are upset. Meanwhile the claim “this one is against the wonderful climate change activists” is laughable. A thinly veiled attempt to hide in sheep’s clothing. It’s the new antisemitism. Oh wait, is that one still being used? Whatever. I’m over it.

Bravo! The presumptive arrogance of white liberals attempting to tell YOU and other Africans what's good for them never ceases to amaze. I'm sure they were not expecting your deft reply. Thank you for working for economic freedom in a new Africa!
